It was thirteen years from the time Kirk Douglas purchased the rights to Ken Kesey’s novel to Milos Forman’s film, produced by Michael Douglas, hit the screen. And there was lots of drama in those thirteen years, on a global level. When the dust settled however, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest ended up being only the second film to win all five major Academy Awards (the first being It Happened One Night in 1934).
